The world’s top boccia players converged on the Maurice-Richard Arena for the BISFed 2019 Montreal Boccia World Open, with close to 100 athletes from 20 countries vying for crucial World Ranking points which could get them to Tokyo. For athletes from the Americas it was especially important as it was the first big event of the year.
The Défi Sportif Altergo multi-Sport event has become an event close to Boccia athletes’ hearts and a traditional event in the BISFed competition Calendar, as it hosts BISFed competitions since 2013 and international Boccia events since 2007.

Medals were won by 12 different countries with surprising results in the Team and pairs competitions as none of the favorites won gold.
Athletes are now competing at the BISFed 2019 Hong Kong Boccia World Open and competition then returns to Europe in beautiful Sardigna, at the BISFed 2019 Olbia Boccia Regional Open in June.
