On a noisy day in Carioca 2 the home boccia fans were not left disappointed!

All the noise was directed towards the only Brazilian athletes in action on court number 4. The BC1/BC2 team took an early lead but their opponents, Hong Kong, pulled the game back to take a 3-1 lead in the second and 4th ends. The crowd turned the volume up and their athletes responded eventually taking the game 5-4.

The stand out game of the 2nd round again saw the hosts in action. This time their opponents were Canada in the BC4 pairs competition. Marco Dispaltro and Alison Levine were 3-2 up going in to the last end and remained in contention to take the match throughout the final end. 3-2 down and with only seconds to go Marcelo Dos Santos threw his final ball to put the Brazilians in the lead and with the chance to take the final end by 2. Marco was unable to respond with his final ball and the Brazilian crowd went into overdrive!

It was a mixed day for the British athletes as their BC4 pair won both of their games but it was a different story for the BC3 pair who lost both of their opening games. It was a similar storey for Portugal as their teams and pairs got off to a slow start.

As expected in the BC3 pair competition Korea look invincible as they ran out 10-1 winners against Canada in their first game and then went on to beat Belgium 7-3. Greece will also be hoping for a medal in the BC3 pairs competition but they were narrowly beaten by Singapore but were able to take the victory against GB later in the day.

All the results can be found on the Rio 2016 www.rio2016.com. Action continues tomorrow at 11:00 (local time).
