Three World Boccia staff recently undertook a site visit to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Paul Trayner, World Boccia CEO, said “we are delighted to be here in Paris, inspecting the venue and, along with the HOC, meeting all of the relevant departments and stakeholders. It is so important, in the delivery of a successful competition, to have everyone pulling in the same direction and that is certainly the case here.”
Boccia will take place in the South Paris Arena, along with Para table tennis and Goalball. The venue was built in 1923 to host the Paris Trade Fair (Foire de Paris). Needless to say, it has undergone significant redevelopment since this time and will be a splendid Games venue.
Each sport with have it’s own soundtrack for the Games. The World Boccia team had the opportunity to hear ours and were pleased with what they heard!
For the first time we will see the Agitos and the Olympic Rings alongside one another throughout both events in Paris, demonstrating the commitment of the organisers to deliver a truly connected and equitable Paralympics.
Host, Gustavo Cerqueira, Boccia Sport Manager Paris 2024, felt “The Word Boccia visit was a great opportunity for Paris 2024 to present updated information on our Boccia competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The visit was also an excellent opportunity for the different functional areas of Paris 2024 to ask World Boccia for advice on the workings of a Boccia competition. We would like to thank World Boccia for all the collaborative work during the project. We are confident that together we will deliver unforgettable Paralympic Games.”
World Boccia will be sharing more information over the next few months on how you can secure your spot to compete in Paris 2024!
