The individual competitions of the Zagreb 2022 World Boccia Challenger have come to an end with touching scenes at the Medal Ceremony when Artem Kolinko from the Ukraine collected his Silver Medal under a lengthy applause for the Men´s BC4 competition (minute 27 of the ceremony).
Artem commented “I am very happy to be here and represent my country Ukraine. I am very grateful to BISFed and the organizers for this possibility to be here. It’s very important for me and my country in this time. Thank you very much for your support 🙏”
This was the first Intercontinental Challenger since the change in the competition system, replacing the old Regional Opens. This new competition hosts countries from different regions and as happened at the Regional Championships in 2021, hosted separate individual competitions for men and women, with a total of 27 female athletes and 37 male athletes.
It was great to see Tokyo 2020 Paralympic BC3 Gold medalist Adam Peska was once again at the top of the podium.
Congratulations to all medallists and competitors. See all podium results here:
