The BISFed 2019 Zagreb Boccia Regional Open has come to an end and BISFed would like to thank the athletes, organizers and officials for giving their best.
This was the first BISFed Sanctioned Boccia event Organised by the Disabled Croatian Boccia Association. The competition hosted 85 athletes from 18 Countries. Here are some highlights of the competition:
BC1 Gold to Ivannh Mitory of France scoring two points in the last end to beat local favorite Martin Frkovic. 4-3
BC2 Gold to Francis Rambouts of Belgium, beating Claire Taggart of GB 4-1 in the final. He was seeded first coming into the tournament.
BC3 Gold to Maria Bjurstrom of Sweden, ahead of 2 Brits, unranked William Arnott and Scott McCowan. Two other athletes from Sweden finished fourth and fifth.
BC4 Samuel Andrejcik won gold. Seeded number one and local favorite Davor Komar was eliminated in the Quarter Final.
Pair BC3 Slovakia won gold beating Czech Republic 7-1
Pair BC4 Host Country Croatia was no match for Slovakia losing 9-0
Team GB stopped Slovakia´s clean sweep of gold medals in Teams and pairs by winning the close final match 4-3.
Slovakia led the medal tally with 5 medals including 3 golds. GB was second with 4 medals. A total of 10 countries won at least one medal.
