The Asian Paralympic Committee announced the recipients of its prestigious Asian Awards at a recent gala dinner during its General Assembly in Dubai. The Asian Order is presented to any person who has illustrated the APC ideals through his/her actions, has achieved remarkable merit in the sporting world for people with an impairment, or has rendered outstanding and long-lasting services to the APC cause.
We are delighted to report that BISFed’s Vice President and Secretary General, Martin Lam was amongst those honoured. In addition to serving on BISFed’s Board, Martin is the Secretary General of the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled and the award is for his contribution over many years not just to Hong Kong, but also for his dedication in helping other countries in Asia to develop Para sport. BISFed President David Hadfield said: “I am so pleased that Martin’s efforts have been recognised by the APC in this way; the award is richly deserved. Martin’s knowledge of sport is second to none, and he always goes beyond the call of duty in encouraging new initiatives in disabled sport. We are fortunate to have Martin as a senior member of our Board.”
