The election for BISFed’s first Athlete Representative took place on the 15th and 16th August at the Boccia World Championships in Liverpool. Turnout was very high, with 86% of eligible athletes having cast their vote. The votes are currently being counted and the winner will be announced during the World Championship closing ceremony on Saturday the 18th August.
As a first step towards appointing a full Athletes’ Council, the BISFed Athlete Representative will:
- Help the Board to prepare the terms of reference for a future BISFed Athletes’ Council;
- Lead the subsequent process to elect and appoint a BISFed Athletes’ Council;
- Advise the Board on matters of importance to boccia athletes.
Four athletes offered themselves as candidates: Marco Dispaltro (Canada), Stephen McGuire (Great Britain), Nurulasyiqau Binte Mohammad Taha (Singapore) and Kwan Hang Wong (Hong Kong.)
