The 3 BISFed World Open events that are scheduled for 2016 have all sold out. The events in Montreal, Dubai and Povoa have all seen applications rejected due to oversubscription. The first event gets underway in Montreal in 13 days time with competitors taking part from over 15 countries.
Despite these events carrying no World Ranking points, federations have been eager to send athletes to gain valuable experience ahead of the Rio games. Athletes will use the events as final preparation and those that have not received automatic qualification will want to showcase their talent to confirm their place in Rio.
With the latest provisional rankings now available online, federations will soon be notified of the slots they are eligible for. They will then have until July before they are required to select their final athletes.
