Day 2 started with matches from the BC3 category and there was a fine display from Greg Polychronidis (Greece) who showed why he has been at the top of the rankings for so many years. He was an eventual 5 – 1 winner on court 2. Meanwhile over on court 8, Marilou Martineau (Canada) was competitng in only her second international match. The 15 year old was given a tough first round match against Armando Costa (Portugal) and was once again beaten by Sweden’s Maria Bjurstro. It has not been an easy start for the youngster but she more than held her own in the first 3 ends but the Swede’s experience was evident in the 4th and the game ended 10-0.

All the noise before the lunch break was coming from the Brazilians and the Portuguese. They were watching the game between Antonio Marques and Luiz Lima Fiho. Antonio won the first end 2-0 but the Brazilian fourt back taking the second 2-0 to draw level. He then went on to further please the Brazilian supporters taking the next 2 ends and winning the tie overall 4-2. In truth, this was a game that neither player deserved to lose.

The final round of matches saw well fought game between Fernando Ferreira (Portugal) and Nigel Murray (Great Britain) – or at least until the final end. The game could have gone either way going into the 4th end but Ferreira took it 4-0 to confound Murray to his second defeat of the week.
